Framing Configuration may be found in two locations:


1. Choose Framing Configuration from Wall+ menu.

2. Choose Configuration Type that corresponds to framing layer of the wall.

3. Select L Connection, End Connection, V Connection or T Connection.

L Connections, End Connections, and T Connections are supplemented with options that bring further flexibility for predefining outer corners, B (Butt) outer corners, inner corners, or B (Butt) inner corners.

Wall+ recognizes inner and outer corners so that you can adjust different joins. It gives you more flexibility in modeling and easily handles complex situations:

Framing End Extension

Framing End Extension - makes frame offset from the wall connection.

Lengthen Top/Bottom Plates

Lengthen Top/Bottom Plates – makes top and bottom plate offset from the wall connection.

Split or Shorten up to Stud

Split or Shorten up to Stud – splits or makes the top/bottom plates shorter. 

Split at Stud – select the number of the stud where the top/bottom plates should be split or shortened.

E.g Bottom plates are split at the second from the right stud:

E.g. Bottom plate is split at the third stud from the right.

Build in Place and Link to Connected Wall 

Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the plate instance parameter if plate is build-in-place or is prefabricated with the whole wall frame.  

Link to Connected Wall – option if the plate is near a wall corner and such an element should be prefabricated and connected to the connecting wall.

A plate like this will have Link to Connected Wall or Build in Place parameter switched ON: 

Custom Join


Read Layout from Database – select configuration from the list. Default Configuration is a sample configuration that comes with the software.

Default path to database with join configurations is:
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Tools 4 Revit\Wall+2015 (or other version) Configurations\CustomFramingJoins

You can also modify the path to all configurations in Configuration Files‘ Location.


Predefined Layout Name – current configuration name.

All modifications can be saved to the current configuration using Save to Database.

Duplicate – duplicates existing join configuration in order to create a new one.

Delete – deletes configuration from the database.

New Item – adds new stud to the connection.

Remove Item – removes selected stud from the connection.

Move Up – moves selected stud/row up.

Move Down – moves selected stud/row down.

Symbolic Preview – shows symbolic preview of created join and its configuration. You can easily see the position, rotation, rotation position, alignment type, and sample spacing.

It does not show exact stud sizes and spacing between them.

and 2 indicate the sides of the intersecting wall. These sides are used for stud positioning.

or E indicate where the Internal or External sides of the wall are.


X-Position – controls stud position related to intersecting wall.

Standard – places the stud without any alignment with intersecting wall:

Inner Side 1 – places the stud along inner side 1 of intersecting wall:

Inner Side 2 – places the stud along inner side 2 of intersecting wall:

Outer Side 2 – place the stud along outer side 2 of intersecting wall:

Side 1 by Center – centers the stud with intersecting wall side 1:

Side 2 by Center – centers the stud with intersecting wall side 2:

Center – places the stud at center of intersecting wall:

Count – defines the number of identical studs.

Type – selected stud family and type. The list of families and types comes from the current project. Sample families are loaded using Wall+ Settings Load Families function.

Default families for connections are I_WF Stud.rvt (in Imperial projects) and M_WF Stud.rvt (in Metric projects).

Depth by Core – stud size will be adjusted according to the wall layer thickness during wall framing process.

Rotate 90 – rotates selected stud by 90 degrees.

Rotate 180 – rotates selected stud by 180 degrees. This option is important when the stud is not symmetrically shaped. For rectangular studs this option usually is not used.

Spacing – distance between the selected stud and the previous stud.


Position – stud can be positioned along the Center, External, Internal, External Outside, Internal Outside, Center External, Center Internal wall face, or Outside Near Connected Wall. The possible option values depend on Rotate 90 selected value. 

Near Connected Wall – option used if the stud must always be near the side where another wall connects.

Near Connected Wall + Depth – option used if the stud must always be near the side where other wall connects, and the stud depth must be the same as connected wall layer thickness.

Align Type

Align Type – the selected stud can be aligned with the previous stud‘s End or Start, core inside or core outside.

Extend Start, Extend End, Cuts

Extend Start, Extend End – controls start/end stud connection with other elements from the wall frame. It can extend and cut both sides of the beam depending on the L or T connection with other beams. 

Cut – select if stud should cut the connected plate. 

Example: Wall+ finds that end stud is connected with plate in "L" connection. In this case, it is extended in both sides and cuts the plate: 


Fills information into these parameters:

FM Module Type – writes connection configuration name.

FM Module Mark – writes FS (Frame Start) or FE (Frame End) values + L (Left) or R (Right) + Mark (from Wall).

FM Module Preassembled – writes Yes/No if element is/is not included into preassembly.

Example: Free end stud is included into the preassembling so FM Module Type parameter has end connection configuration value, FM Module Mark parameter contains FS (Frame Start) + L (Left) + current wall Mark value (it can be seen near FM HostMemberSortMark).

Build in Place

Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into beam instance parameter if the beam is built-in-place or is prefabricated with whole wall frame.  

Link to Connected Wall

Link to Connected Wall – choose this option if end stud is near wall corner and the element should be prefabricated and connected to an intersecting wall.

End Connection – Start/End Connection

Start/End Connection – predefine different start and end connections for a wall.


V Connection

Framing End Extension – an offset from the wall end.

Example with V Connection:

You can select different connection types from the list and then make a custom type. 

If you select V1Y0X type, then use M_Wall_Frame RV_NA Stud family (in Metric projects) or I_Wall_Frame RV_NA Stud family (in Imperial projects).


Miter Plates

Miter Plates for Mitered Walls – informs that top/bottom plates will be mitered for mitered walls.

Mitered walls:

Wall+ makes mitered top/bottom plates:
