Framing Configuration may be found in two locations:

Vertical Stud


Type – select the family and type that will be used for studs. Default value comes from the Common Settings tab.


Width (b) – shows width of selected type.


Depth (h,d) – shows depth of selected type. 


Define Depth (h,d) by Layer Thickness – Wall+ will automatically create a new type for the selected family with new depth equal to the thickness of the selected wall layer. 


Add Studs – studs with rules listed below Add Studs in the menu (i.e. Align with Project Base Point, Stud Spacing, First/Last Spacing) will be (not) applied to the frame. The frame can be created without studs, just using, for example, horizontal elements. 


Align with Project Base Point


Align with Project Base Point – allows studs to be positioned not only in relation to each other but according to Revit gridlines.


Studs are positioned on the gridlines – and where necessary to fill in gaps or form intersections – so that they always match up across a corridor or room.

Notice how the studs are spaced according to the grid:


First step – unclip the state of the Revit Project Base Point and move it to the needed position: 


For more convenience, switch on Revit Work Plane and move it to the Project Base Point. It will help you to understand if the studs or joists are created in the right position: 



Turn on Align with Project Base Point in the Framing Configuration dialog:



Frame the walls, floors, or roof:



In the case you need to relocate the frame, just move the Project Base Point to the new position and update the frame!



Stud Spacing and First/Last Spacing


Stud Spacing – defines the distance between the studs.


First/Last Spacing – defines common stud offset. Offset direction can be defined either from the first or the last, or both last studs. First/Last Spacing is dependent on the exterior side of wall as shown below. The beginning of the armament starts from the left side looking from the exterior side of a wall.



Top Plate


Type – select the family and type that will be used for top plates. Default value comes from Common Settings tab.


Rotate 90° – if ON then rotates top plate by 90 degrees.


Number of Elements – inserts a defined number of top plates into the frame.



Bottom Plate


Type – select family and type that will be used for bottom plates. Default value comes from Common Settings tab.


Rotate 90° – if ON then rotates bottom plate by 90 degrees.


Number of Elements – inserts a defined number of bottom plates into frame.



Number of Elements not to Cut


Number of Elements not to Cut – if there is at least one bottom plate, you can cut it or leave it as a whole.



Top/Bottom Pad


Top/Bottom Pad will be added above/below the main frame. 


Top/Bottom Pad Type - select the family and type which will be used for pad. Suggested family is I_WF Plate.rfa (in Imperial projects) and M_WF Plate.rfa (in Metric projects). One more family which could be used is I_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Imperial projects) and M_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Metric projects). These families will be loaded into the project with other sample Wall+ families. 


Number of Elements – select if the bottom pad should be added and select an amount of lines. 


Number of Rows – select an amount of pad elements in one line.



Note1:

If  I_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Imperial projects) or M_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Metric projects) family is used and pad elements should be created with exact sizes, then pay attention to the type parameter Pad Gap = 0. Pad Gap is the gap between pad elements. 



Note2: 

If I_WF Plate.rfa (in Imperial projects) or M_WF Plate.rfa (in Metric projects) family is used, then make sure the type parameter Auto Offset is switched ON.




Build in Place


Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the top/bottom plate instance parameter if it is built in place or is prefabricated together with the whole wall frame. Later this parameter can be used in schedules or view filters.  



Note:

For I_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Imperial projects) and M_WF Plate Pad.rfa (in Metric projects) families, please write row number which should be built in place near the type parameter Row Number for Build in Place. Make sure the instance Build in Place parameter is changed.



Offsets


Offset – frame offsets from wall top or bottom.
