Add/Modify Elements – features for adding/modifying additional joists, support joists, bridging/nogging elements, etc.


Add Additional Bridging/Nogging/Blocking


Add Additional Bridging/Nogging/Blocking – adds additional bridging/nogging/blocking between two selected joists with predefined settings.



Additional Bridging/Nogging/Blocking sizes


Type – select the family and type that will be used for Bridging/Nogging/Blocking. Default family is M_WF Rim-Bridging Joist (for Metric projects) and I_WF Rim-Bridging Joist (for Imperial projects).


Width (b) – shows b size of selected type.


Depth (h,d) – shows h or d size of selected type. 


Define Depth (h,d) by Layer ThicknessFloor+ will automatically create new type for selected family with new depth equal to selected floor layer thickness. 


Rotate by Slope


Rotate by Slope – rotates additional bridging/nogging/blocking by floor slope.

Rotate 90°


Rotate 90° – Bridging, Nogging, or Blocking can be rotated 90 degrees to its initial position.

Extend Ends


Extend Ends – extends blocking/nogging/bridging ends when it connects to joists.  


Example: Extend Ends is switched OFF:

Use Short Noggings


Use Short Noggings – makes short noggings between the joists, instead of long ones. 


Example: Use Short Noggings is switched OFF:

Cut Type


Cut Type – select blocking/nogging/bridging and joist connection cutting type. 


Possible options:


Example: when Cut Type = Don't Cut

Select Line-Based Element


Select Line Based Element – adds blocking/nogging/bridging according to selected line-based element.


Offset from Selected Element – writes an offset for adding blocking/nogging/bridging from selected line-based element. 


Example: when Offset from Selected Element = 0, Select Line-Based Element = opening header:


Example: when Offset from Selected Element = 200, Select Line-Based Element = opening header:


Split Studs/Joists


Split Studs/Joists – splits joists near inserted blocking/nogging/bridging.


Example: when Split Studs/Joists is switched ON:


Note: Split Studs/Joists is available ONLY IF Use Short Noggings is switched OFF. 


Offset


Offset – predefines the offset rule (from shorter or longer joist end or base. This function works for joists that are not split. It is especially used with sloped floors. 

Joist base is at the top of the floor, and end is at the bottom of the floor. 


Offset from Base/End – predefines the offset from top or bottom of the joist. 


Spacing – distance between blockings/noggings/bridgings.


Number – number of blockings/noggings/bridgings.


Array in Rows


Array in Rows – predefines rows for bridging. 


Note: Rotate 90° has to be switched ON.


If you choose Array in Rows, then there is no possibility to use Spacing, but you have to use Number in Rows, which defines the number of bridgings in one row. 


Measure to


Measure to – measures the offset and spacing to bridging/nogging/blocking top/bottom or center. 



Frame Side


Frame Side – choose whether nogging should be applied in the center, external, or internal side of the frame. 



Build in Place


Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the blocking/nogging/bridging instance parameter if it is build-in-place or is prefabricated with whole floor frame. This parameter can later be used in schedules or view filters.
