Paneling Configuration

Paneling Configuration – allows you to configure and save settings for the paneling layouts. These settings can be saved and linked with roof layer using Link Roof



Using Paneling Configuration you can predefine insulation and paneling setting for your Revit project.


Insulation or panels are created using Revit Parts. In order to see the panels or insulation, you have to select Show Parts or Show Both in View Properties → Parts Visibility.



These settings can be saved and linked with roof layer using Link Roof.




Paneling Dimensions


Paneling Dimensions – predefine vertical and horizontal paneling sizes (Width and Length).


Paneling Layout


Paneling Layout – predefine settings for creating the paneling.


Parallel or Perpendicular to Stud/Joist


Parallel, Perpendicular to Stud/Joist – select whether panels should be parallel or perpendicular to the joist.



Bottom/Base Extension, Top/End Extension


Bottom/Base Extension, Top/End Extension – adds an offset from the roof base or end.



Sloped Bottom/Base Extension, Sloped Top/End Extension


Sloped Bottom/Base Extension, Sloped Top/End Extension – add an offset from the roof base or end for sloped roofs.


Division Horizontal/Vertical Offset


Division Horizontal/Vertical Offset – adds division offset from the roof bottom or left side. 



Second Row Overlap Distance


Second Row Overlap Distance – overlap distance between paneling layouts if Perpendicular to Stud/Joist is ticked.



Placement Direction


Placement Direction – predefine paneling direction: From Start, From End or From Both Sides. Make sure that Complete Sheets in First Row is switched ON.


Add First/Last Split Line


Add First/Last Split Line – adds the split profile into the first or last panel.


Horizontal/Vertical Gap


Horizontal/Vertical Gap – specifies the distance between divided horizontal and vertical parts. The default value is 0, which results in no gap.

Note that if Always Try to Merge Parts is ticked ON, Gap will not be applicable.



Horizontal/Vertical Division Profile


Horizontal/Vertical Division Profile – apply the pre-loaded profile you select from the drop-down list to part edges along dividers. The default value is None.


Horizontal/Vertical Profile Edge Mirrored


Horizontal/Vertical Profile Edge Mirrored – specify how the profiles on the other side of a divider gap will be oriented.


Align with Studs/Joists


Align with Studs/Joists – aligns panels with joists.


Example 1:


Allow to Split on Second King/Joist


Allow to Split on Second King/Joist – splits the panels on the second king or joist of the opening.



Always Try to Merge Parts


Example: Let’s split parts by openings horizontally and set the horizontal direction for merging: 

If we were to increase the paneling dimensions to 4000 x 1200 mm, we’d get this result:

Let’s try setting the paneling dimensions to 3000 x 1200 mm for another roof, but this time, we‘ll split the paneling vertically, add vertical splits on the opening sides, and set the vertical prioritization for merging:


Also, we can predefine the paneling dimensions to 3000 x 1200 mm, split the paneling vertically, add horizontal splits and vertical splits on the nearest opening joists, and set to horizontal prioritization for merging:  


Here are the above settings applied to two different roofs: 

 


Vertical Split on Opening Side


Vertical Split on Opening Side – splits panels on the side of the opening, the nearest joist, or the nearest king if top and bottom trimmers are predefined in the Opening Framing.


You can predefine top and bottom trimmers under Roof+ Configs → Framing ConfigurationOpening Framing



Minimal Width of Opening for Split


Minimal Width of Opening for Split – define the minimum opening width for which splitting is applied. 


Example: If the opening width is less than the predefined value, then there will be no splits around the opening:


If the opening width is more than the predefined value, then there will be splits around the opening:


Horizontal Split on Opening Side


Horizontal Split on Opening Side – define whether the panels must be split horizontally around the opening.


Example: Horizontal Split on Opening Side is ticked OFF:


Example: Horizontal Split on Opening Side is ticked ON:


Vertical/Horizontal Split by Parameter – Split Part


In order to activate all these features, Align with Studs/Joists must be switched OFF:



Vertical/Horizontal Split by Parameter – Split Part — splits panels vertically by the Split Part parameter from joist.



In order to activate the Split Part parameter, you have to open Type Properties of the joist family and add Part Split Number. Roof+ will know where to split the panel, for example, every 4 joists.


 

Result: Panels are split by vertical and horizontal joists and bridgings. 

Example: If the horizontal bridgings should be short, then make sure Perpendicular to Stud/Joist is selected. In such cases, Roof+ will split the segments vertically first and then horizontally.



Complete Sheets in First Row


Complete Sheets in First Row – reverses panel placement direction. If Placement Direction is set to From Start and Complete Sheets in First Row is OFF, then the placement direction will be from end.


This option should be used when there are a few insulation layers.


Mark Settings


Mark Settings – predefine default values for these parameters. The parameters can be later used in schedules and tags.



Part Detail Configuration and Framing Configuration – you can predefine default configurations to be added to every part. 

Detail configuration comes from Smart Details. Smart Details can instantly add any number of face-specific intelligent details – which adapt to host-element changes – throughout BIM models. 


Example: Insulation fasteners are automatically added to every insulation:




Opening


Opening – predefine top, bottom, left, and right paneling offsets from the opening.



End Connection


End Connection – predefine paneling settings for roof end connections.


Layer Extension – distance from a roof face. 


Example: For the free end connection Layer Extension = 20:



Split at Joist – define the joist number where the panel must be split.


Example: Split at Joist = 1:

Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the panel instance parameter if it is build-in-place or is prefabricated with whole roof frame. Later this parameter can be used in schedules or view filters. 



Excluded – removes the panel (part) from the model. Excluded panels are only visible when under the cursor and will not be included in schedules.
