Framing Configuration may be found in two locations:


Stud Holes

Stud Holes – allows distributing service holes on studs according to predefined insertion rules.


Type – select the family and type that will be used for the holes. Default family is M_WF Service Holes (for Metric projects) and I_WF Service Holes  (for Imperial projects).

Width (b) – shows b size of selected type.

Depth (h,d) – shows h or d size of selected type. 

Define Depth (h,d) by Layer ThicknessWall+M will automatically create new type for selected family with new depth equal to selected wall layer thickness. For service holes it is usually switched off. 

Cut Holes

Cut Holes – choose whether the holes will be created according to the rules listed below. 

Rotate 90°, Rotate 180°

Rotate 90°, Rotate 180° –  if ticked, then holes are rotated by 90 or 180 degrees. It is convenient if the family profile is not symmetric.

Array1 or Array2

A set of rules for placing many holes.

Array 1 or Array 2 – there are options to apply two array rules: Array from Top or Bottom of the frame. 

Offset from Top/Bottom – holes offset from top or bottom plate top face.

Spacing – spacing between rows of holes.

Number – amount of hole rows. 

Measure – select hole-measuring method: From bottom or top of the frame to the center, bottom, or top of the hole family. 

Build in Place

Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the hole family instance parameter if it is build-in-place or is prefabricated with the whole wall frame. Later this parameter can be used in schedules or view filters.

Cut Diagonal Cripple Studs

Cut Diagonal Cripple Studs – if ticked, then service holes will go through places with diagonal cripple studs. 

Cut Sloped Top/Bottom Plates

Cut Sloped Top/Bottom Plates – if ticked, then service holes will go through places with sloped plates.
