Add/Modify Bracing

Add/Modify Bracing – features for adding/modifying braces between joists or rim joists, corner braces and brace groups.


Modify Brace


Modify Brace – modifies selected brace in the frame.   


Brace sizes


Type – select the family and type that will be used for brace. Default family is M_MF Strap.rvt (for Metric projects) and I_MF Strap.rvt (for Imperial projects).


Width (b) – shows b size of selected type.


Depth (h,d) – shows h or d size of selected type. 


Define Depth (h,d) by Layer ThicknessFloor+M will automatically create new type for selected family with new depth equal to selected floor layer thickness. 


Rotate 90°, Rotate 180°


Rotate 90° – brace can be rotated 90 degrees to its initial position.  


Rotate 180° – brace can be rotated 180 degrees to its initial position.


Minimum/Maximum Angle


Minimum/Maximum Angle – define angle limits for adding a brace.


Cut Joists


Cut Joists – select brace and joist connection cutting type. 


Possible options: Don't Cut, Cut Joists, and Cut Bracing.


Example: when Cut Bracing is selected:


Cut Bridging/Nogging


Cut Bridging/Nogging – select brace and bridging/nogging connection cutting type. 


Possible options: Don't Cut, Cut Bridging/Nogging/Blocking and Cut Bracing.


Brace Connection Offset from Joist or Bridging/Nogging/Blocking


Brace Connection Offset from Joist – brace offset from connection point with a joist.


Brace Connection Offset from Bridging/Nogging/Blocking – brace offset from connection point with a rim joist, bridging, or nogging.


Example: when Brace Connection Offset from Joist = 100:


Frame Side


Frame Side – select whether a brace should be applied in the center, external or internal side of the frame.  


Build in Place


Build in Place – writes Yes/No information into the brace instance parameter if it is build-in-place or is prefabricated with whole floor frame. Later this parameter can be used in schedules or view filters.
